Man Turns Down Free $11K Super Bowl Ticket for Sister-in-Law’s Wedding—Wife’s Reaction Goes Viral

On February 9, 2025, while 127.7 million viewers tuned in to watch Super Bowl LIX, one man made a choice that had the internet buzzing. For most football fans, scoring a free $11,000 ticket to the biggest game of the year would be a no-brainer. But for Tim from Austin, Texas, the decision wasn’t so simple. Instead of taking his seat at the stadium, he chose to attend his sister-in-law’s wedding—a move that quickly made waves online.

His wife, Jessica Anderson (known as @tinytello on TikTok), shared the story in a now-viral video, and let’s just say, not everyone agreed with his call.

"Next time you're sad, just remember Tim had to decline a free $11,000 Super Bowl ticket to attend my sister's wedding," Anderson wrote in her TikTok post.

The video amassed over a million views in less than 24 hours, drawing mixed reactions. Some praised Tim’s dedication to family, while others said missing a Super Bowl—especially for free—was outrageous.

"Why Would Anyone Plan a Wedding on Super Bowl Weekend?"

While some people admired Tim’s commitment, others were more stunned that the wedding was scheduled on Super Bowl weekend in the first place.

"Okay but why would anyone plan their wedding Super Bowl weekend?" one top comment read, racking up nearly 23,000 likes.

Others argued that missing the game—even for free—was just too big of a sacrifice.

"I’m not even a football fan, but that’s absolutely insane to not let him go," one user wrote.

But not everyone saw it that way.

"These comments need to get a grip," another TikToker countered. "I’m glad your man loves and values you because the comment section cannot relate."

Did His Wife "Force" Him to Stay? She Clears the Air

As speculation grew, some people accused Anderson of making Tim skip the game. She quickly set the record straight.

"Y’all are so triggered. Let me clear things up," she said in a follow-up video. "My husband was allowed to go to the Super Bowl. He decided not to go on his own."

But according to her, even if he had wanted to go, it wasn’t an option.

"It was logistically impossible for him to attend because he was invited at 9 p.m. the day before we were leaving on our flight to Mexico for the wedding," she explained.

She also dismissed the idea that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"For everyone saying, 'Oh, my God, it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience,' I do not subscribe to that limiting belief. I will be going to the Super Bowl many more times in this lifetime, so keep that belief to yourself."

So, Did He Make the Right Call? The Internet Weighs In

Some people applauded Tim for choosing family over football.

"The sister-in-law is hopefully only getting married once. He made the right decision for him," one person wrote.

Others, however, weren’t convinced.

"If you paid me $11,000, I’d consider going to the Super Bowl, but otherwise I’ll pass. He’s a good husband though," another commenter joked.

The Final Score? Still Up for Debate

Whether Tim made a hall-of-fame move or fumbled a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity depends on who you ask.

The Philadelphia Eagles ultimately defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, but it’s unclear if Tim and Jessica even had time to watch the game between wedding festivities.

One thing’s for sure—the internet isn’t letting this debate go anytime soon.

Would you skip a free Super Bowl ticket for a wedding? Let the conversation continue.

People forget that there are 10’s of millions of people, probably hundreds of millions of people, who have no interest in professional sports. I am one of them. Many people in my family are among this not-so-select group. When you realize that, you also realize that this story is hardly newsworthy.

My question is, where did he get that 11k free ticket from? The other question is, who in their right mind would pay 11k for a ticket?
